Oh dear - I was so busy going along this half pebbled/half sandy beach - I clean did not take any picture and had to get one of the net. :( shame on me!! This beach's claim to fame is the many many different rocks/pebbles you can find there. They are free for the taking and we did spend a good 2 hours going up and down. The most famous pebble you can pick up is yet another greenstone / nz jade - being washed down the rivers and ending up in the sea. However there are many other pebbles worth a look - just on grain/colour alone!! Mamabear sampling the local water temperature and it is refreshing as in Kaikoura! Having said that we did see some local kids taking a quick dip, before running shivering back to the warmth of where-ever! It should be noted that some 90% of beaches in New Zealand are somewhat unsafe to swim in or downright dangerous due to many rips and well - other stuff going on! Located just on the northern side of Greymouth the local community is in the 100's (if that).
